Account and Data Deletion
Last updated: 6 October 2026
This page explains how to delete your account or request deletion of personal data for Katsu JLPT (Katsu: JLPT Quiz & Kanji) on Android and iOS, including earlier Android versions distributed as JLPT Quiz: Kanji & Vocabulary. The app is provided by VIODRA STUDIOS BILISIM HIZMETLERI SANAYI VE TICARET LIMITED SIRKETI (“VIODRA STUDIOS”).
You have two options:
- Delete your account in Katsu JLPT.
- Request deletion by email.
Delete your account inside Katsu JLPT
- Open Katsu JLPT and go to Profile.
- Check that you are signed in to the account you want to delete.
- Select Delete account and read the confirmation.
- Confirm deletion and complete Google or Apple reauthentication if requested.
- Wait for the app to confirm that deletion succeeded. If it reports an error, deletion may not have completed; retry or contact support.
Menu names may vary by language or app version. If you cannot find the option, or you use a guest session, you can request deletion by email.
Successful account deletion removes your Katsu JLPT sign-in account. Newer Android and iOS versions also remove that account’s learning and profile records on the device where you perform the deletion. These can include favorites, question progress, quiz results and history, achievements, game and study progress, and the account’s local profile name and image.
Earlier Android versions may leave additional on-device learning records. Account deletion does not remotely erase local copies on other devices. To remove remaining device-only copies, use the device’s app-data removal controls, or contact us for guidance for your version. On iOS, offloading an app preserves its documents and data; it is different from deleting the app.
Signing out or uninstalling Katsu JLPT does not, by itself, delete your online Katsu JLPT account. If you continue using the app after account deletion, a new guest session and technical account may be created. Signing in again can also create a new account; it does not undo the completed deletion.
Request deletion without the app
Email a deletion request to support@viodrastudios.com
Use the subject “Katsu JLPT privacy or deletion request”. You can request deletion even if you have uninstalled the app, cannot sign in, or no longer have the device. You do not need to reinstall Katsu JLPT or buy Pro to submit a request.
Please include:
- Whether you want to delete your Katsu JLPT account and associated personal data, or only particular data.
- Whether you used Android, iOS, or both.
- The email address associated with your Katsu JLPT account and whether you used Google or Apple sign-in, if applicable. If Apple supplied a private relay address, include it if you know it.
- Enough information to identify any separate support message or content report you want deleted, such as its date or report reference.
If you used Katsu JLPT only as a guest, say so. We may need additional information to locate the relevant technical account or records, because they may not be linked to an email address. Contact us before clearing the app’s local data if you need help identifying a guest session.
We may ask for proportionate verification to prevent someone else from deleting your data. Do not send passwords, sign-in codes, full payment-card details, or a copy of your backup file. If further information is necessary, we will explain what is needed and how to provide it.
What is deleted, and what needs separate attention?
| Information | How deletion works |
|---|---|
| Katsu JLPT sign-in account and profile information held with it | Removed when account deletion completes. This does not delete your Google or Apple account. |
| Learning and profile records on your device | Newer versions remove the deleted account’s local records on the device performing the deletion, as described above. Copies on other devices and records belonging to other accounts are separate. A support request cannot remotely wipe your device. |
| Google Drive, iCloud and exported backups | The in-app account deletion action does not automatically remove these copies. Follow the backup instructions below or ask support for assistance. Restoring a retained backup can bring its learning/profile data back into the app. |
| Content reports and support correspondence | These are not automatically removed by the in-app account deletion action. You can request deletion by email. Reports may not be linked to a sign-in account, so include a reference or enough context to locate them. |
| Analytics, diagnostic, installation and advertising records | The account deletion button does not automatically erase all provider records. Include these in your request if relevant. We will assess what can be identified and deleted and, where applicable, request deletion from providers processing data for us. |
| Purchase and subscription records | Store and purchase-verification records are separate from your learning account. Some records may need to remain to maintain or restore purchased access, process transactions, prevent fraud or meet legal obligations. Account deletion does not cancel a subscription or automatically issue a refund. |
“Not automatically removed” does not prevent you from requesting deletion. We will explain the action available for the records concerned, any provider or device steps needed, and any applicable retention exception.
Remove backup copies
Before removing backups, turn off Auto Cloud Backup in Katsu JLPT on devices that still have it enabled if you do not want their current local data uploaded again.
- Android / Google Drive: Use the Google Drive account authorized for Katsu JLPT and its app-data management controls to remove Katsu JLPT’s stored app data. Earlier versions may appear under the previous app name.
- iOS / iCloud: Use the Apple account holding the backup and its iCloud storage or iCloud Drive file controls to remove Katsu JLPT’s backup files. This can be a different account from the one used to sign in to Katsu JLPT.
- Exported or shared files: Delete copies from Files, Downloads, other storage locations and any destinations where you saved or shared them. Check the storage service’s trash or recently deleted area if applicable.
- Other devices and device-level backups: Remove remaining local copies and any relevant device backups through the device or backup provider’s controls.
Cloud-provider menu names and available controls vary. If you cannot locate a Katsu JLPT backup, email support with your platform and storage provider. Do not send us the backup itself.
Manage subscriptions separately
Deleting your Katsu JLPT account or uninstalling the app does not stop subscription billing. If you want to stop renewal, cancel through the store that billed you:
- Google Play: Open Google Play, select the purchasing account, and go to Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.
- App Store: Open your Apple account’s Subscriptions settings and select the Katsu JLPT subscription.
A lifetime purchase is a one-time purchase with no recurring renewal to cancel. Refunds are handled separately under the relevant store’s procedures and applicable law. A deletion request is not a refund request.
Timing, confirmation and retained information
For an in-app deletion, the app confirms the outcome of its account and local-data operation. That confirmation is not a statement that every backup, transaction or provider record has also disappeared.
For an email request, we will verify the request as necessary, explain the expected completion time, and confirm the outcome. If additional time or a separate provider action is needed, we will explain it. Requests are handled within applicable legal time limits.
There is no single retention period for every type of record. Copies in your cloud storage or exported files remain until removed there, subject to that provider’s deletion process. Purchase records can remain as needed to support an existing entitlement and applicable transaction-record obligations. Limited records may also be retained when necessary for security, fraud prevention, legal obligations or resolving a dispute, including a record of how a deletion request was handled.
If information within the scope of your request must be retained, we will explain the category, reason and applicable period or the condition that determines when it can be deleted. Provider backup and deletion cycles may mean removal is not immediate. Information that no longer identifies you, such as a corrected learning entry or fully anonymized statistics, may remain.
